Hello, I've stumbled upon an older design (post-1996 but pre-2006) $5 bill, however, it is 2006 series. According to BEP page, 2006 series was already a new design and the one that I have should be between 1999 and 2003a. Is that a regular $5 bill or is that a mistake? Thanks
That is a regular production $5 (series H I believe). They started printing these after Paulson was appointed and before the new color designs were issued. That being said, it's a comparably short run.
However, depending on the condition, you could consider keeping it.
In 2006 all $5 notes were printed in Fort Worth, they did print colorized and non-colorized. The print size for the non-colorized are: Atlanta HF-A to HF-C printed 275,200,000 notes Chicago HG-A to HG-B printed 106,800,000 notes Minneapolis HI-A printed 25,600,000 notes
