I went to the ball game yesterday....My poor Tigers are in a major slump  I knew of a parking lot that only charges $5 a few blocks away from the stadium in greek town. I paid the attendant in 4 dollar bills and one Ike. He looked at me and said "I never seen one of these before." I said " It's a dollar" He said "This is Real" I said "Yep the bank will even take it" He said "Is it Canadian" I said "No it is a Dollar" He said "I trust you" and then slips it in his pocket. Lol, reminds me of a story I little while back on the forum about someone spending a $2 bill and the attendant at a gas station saying it was fake. Her reasoning was it didn't have a security strip and they dont take bills with out them. I believe the proper retort was, Do you take $1 bills? lol. Had a similar experience. Went to my local bank and asked if the teller had any Ike's. "huh?" " Eisenhower dollars" "Um I dont think that one is out yet." "No, they are the old ones" "huh?" lol after a brief history lesson I asked if they had any Susan B Anthony's. "suse-whats?"  Edited by Namachieli

My Grandfather grew up in Detroit and actually worked for the Tigers before joining the war. His favourite team was the Tigers, while the Cubs were his NL team. Now that you have this information, you know why the White Sox are my least favourite team.  Wow, Eisenhower dollars and Detroit Tigers in one thread.  |

I dunno know what you guys are sad about. I live just outside Pittsburgh. The Pirates haven't had a winning season since the 90's.
I work with some people who have never seen an Ike.

Well....my Giants just finished taking 2 outta 3 from "dem bums from Brooklyn"...so I thought I'd add my 2 cents. I try to keep a few Ikes with me at all times. Strictly for the purpose of spending. It's fun to watch the confused look on some peoples faces when I hand them one or two. Heck, I used to mow lawns for 'em! |

It's a sporting event where only teams from one country (even though the game is played in other countries) compete and the winner declares themselves to be the WORLD champion. (Chutzpa) Well I have to admit they did let a team from Canada in one year, but they won so they haven't been in the contest since then. |
