I just read in Coin World that the Mint is going to make more.. Not sure if this is a good or bad thing. I am leaning towards bad.

The national parks quarters will be minted apon request of orders of $50,000 Ballistic Bags up to 1 yr after the release date. You can now buy Ballstic $50,000 bags for $1500 over face from the mint.

Too rich for my blood. Seems like dirty tricks to mint more after releasing what a lot of people considered final mintages. What else can they re-mint?

Cannot imagine a sudden surge of over a million more of Hot Springs or Yellowstone. Even with new production, it will be less production than other runs.

Spoke to the US Mint folks. Bags and Rolls are finished being produced, no more new stuff there. They were unaware of totals of new revised mintage numbers as of yet. I agree it seems a little dodgy to post a final number then start again. He who has the gold makes the rules. Seems like old times again, when the mint slathered us with State Quarters. Uh-oh, there goes the neighborhood.

Do yo really think there will be enough $50,000 bags ordered to significantly alter the "final" mintage figures? Quote: What else can they re-mint? Unless they have reached a legislated maximum they can "remint" anything during the calendar year that appears on the coin. There is nothing in the legislation that says they can't strike more after the ten week or whatever "production period" for each coin so the only restriction is the law that requires the coin to bear the actualy year it was produced on the coin.

from the US mint website * Preliminary production figures only. Final mintage numbers will be issued in January 2011.** America the Beautiful Quarters™ Program production figures updated after completion of each quarter program. *** The America the Beautiful Quarter total may not match the total in the Coin Production page. The latter includes production numbers for partial as well as completed quarter programs as of the end of the period being reported.

Its funny that they have to do this since the Treasury is already sitting on the most number of quarters in its history.

Thanks for the explanation on my last question Conder101. It makes buying from the mint more of a gamble than I previously thought. Not that it really matters to me because I still need to have complete sets.

Even with that notice, I gobbled up five more 3-22 2010 roll sets at five dollars over issue price. Yellowstone is now different. On ebay, a 5-11 roll set, which I think I recall as the date I posted on the board as a double (um, POTENTIAL.....) doubled die date had multiple bidders this afternoon. While a 5-10 box languished without action. That's 25 bucks over issue, pretty cheap if these pan out. Has anyone else opened a box to find these? That would be interesting to know.
