I have found a new golden coated coin the seems to be a silver/grey colour where it has been chipped, I have no idea what it is at all. Hopefully some of you might know and could tell me as much as you can, sorry about the picture.

I don't know what type of coin it is but it looks like a cast. I think that because it's lacking detail and the coins field is not flat. With a struck coin I would expect the field to be smoth/flat and the detail would be much stronger. I could be wrong since I don't know the coin. That's my 2 cents.

Yep, it's a cast replica of a mediaeval British gold coin called an "angel".

When you say found do you mean found metal detecting? Just interested as relitively unusual to find such copies when detecting.

Yea, I think I had around 100/130 coins all dating from 1800 to 1940's so it was a good find. Many of them very poor condition but the others wasn't that bad
