Until recently, August 1 meant three things to me.
First, it is my brother and his wife's wedding anniversary.
Secondly, it is "Colorado Day," which causes us to remember all the reasons we have to be thankful we live where we do.
Thirdly, back in my teaching days, August 1 was always the day when I started thinking about how close a new school year was, and that I needed to start planning for the new year.
Now, August 1 takes on yet another meaning for me, and an important one.
One year ago, on August 1, I became a member of Coin Community Family.
As many of us did when the old
Coin World Forum was shut down, I went to CT forum Forum. I was happy with CT, and am still a member. However it grew too large for my liking.
About a year ago, I read a post in CT which basically asked "Where's Susan?" The answer was that she had started her own forum, and a site address was given.
I looked up the new forum, and in short order realized it was "home" for me. It did then, and still does today, consist of many knowledgeable and friendly collectors. While its growth has been amazing, it remains small enough that most all names are recognizable when one logs in.
While I have never met the two Terrys, Susan, Bobby, Old Dan, Steve, Rick, Fred, Jim, Richard, August, Mark, Kegan, Renal, Rachel, Lim, Debbie, and many more, I feel as though I know all of them, and like them very much. Coin Community is a "family," and I'm most happy to be a part of it.
In a few hours it will be August 1, and I will start on my second year of membership in CCF. It's a wonderful organization, and I hope my second year will be as rewarding as the first.
