Online auction site E-bay is cracking down on members who break the rules. With 78-million users, E-bay says it needed stricter enforcement to combat fraud, sales of stolen goods and identity theft claims. The website has added tutorials explaining its rules and the potential consequences for violators.

Some users who run their businesses on E-bay complain the new punishments are excessive. The company says it's still trying to figure out which deterrents work best.

I am all for ebay enforcing rules but that means they themselves have to follow what they publish. With the amount of money ebay owes me and the fact that they themselves have broken their own user agreement when they have done this leave little credibility to them attempting to force their own rules on others.

Before ebay asks others to clean up their act ebay needs to clean up their own act first.
Rest in Peace

IF (and this is a BIG "IF") ebay is giving more than just lip service to a serious crack-down on policy violators, something which has yet to be seen, then it can only bode well for ebay, its reputation, credibility, and growth. However, we've all seen these crack-downs before and they're almost as big a scam as the Power Sellers who grossly abuse the system, e.g., estatedoctor and anyone else who uses "private auctions". Honest sellers and Power Sellers have nothing to fear from the new policies. And, given ebay's history, neither do the fraud-mongers.
