Hi - I'm just here to try to get a little information on these coins, and I'm hoping this is the right place. Please let me know if I've posted this in the wrong area.
My mother was given 21 1967 silver dollars when she turned 21 in early 1967. They have been in a roll ever since then, untouched. I've seen that ICCS MS-65 coins from this year go for quite a value, however, the lower graded ones not nearly as much. I guess my main questions is, (and I know this is generic but) is it worth it to take them to ICCS and have them certified? I have tried researching this, and I'm just unsure. I have no experience with coins, and have no idea if the 'story' of these coins would indicate their condition?
Any advice would be welcome
Thanks in advance

Sending small amounts of coins to a third party grading company can be expensive and if the grade is not high enough hardly worth it...If you have a coin dealer in yor area or even a coin club you can ask for their help in grading your coins...once you have a couple that might be worth it you can send them to be graded if you want.
or take some pictures and post them to the form here I am sure the members would be helpful
I am sure the members here will have other suggestions :)

In my experience the general rule of thumb for an unopened role of coins would be graded at MS63 accept for the ones on each end, in your case however it is likely the coins were just placed in a commercial wrapper and may contain fingerprints etc in that case they would drop in grade to around AU.. 1967 flying gooses are quite common and usualy sold for melt unless you have a die rotation on one of them, you would need to check this.

Don't forget to look for double stuck goose and queen. And if you want to sell them you will probably get more money on ebay or in this forum than the coins dealers.

Quote: Ok, I'll find a coin dealer in the area. Silvermaple's advice is bang on. A dealer in your area will give you approx $9 per dollar, regardless of condition. ebay usually gets you more like $12-14 per dollar. Too bad you don't have 50 posts - there are a few on this site that would love to see the roll.

She won't be interested in selling them for just a few bucks, I'm sure. I was thinking the coin dealer may be able to provide some insight to their condition? I'll take some pictures the next time I'm up there, and post them here, if anyone is wants to see them.
