By the way Rikcando.. to make it backward compatible to at least Excel 2002, you can use OR instead of IF (returns TRUE/FALSE). Then when you do the SUM it will add any FALSE as 0 and TRUE as 1.

=OR(E3=$E$2,E3=$H$2,E3=$K$2,E3=$N$2,E3=$Q$2,E3=$T$2,E3=$W$2,E3=$Z$2,E3=$AC$2,E3=$AF$2)

That will at least keep you from having to do the nested IF's

Thanks xshift. I'll certainly try that out next time. It really isn't a compatibility issue for me as I hate 2007 and only use it when a client insists. I don't mind the if's but your method appears more eloquent.

In Excel 2007, the OR function can contain a maximum of 255 expressions. For earlier versions of Excel, the limit is 30 expressions. Much more useful as well.

xshift. I just tested the SUM function and it does not seem to work with TRUE/FALSE in my Excel 2003.
