Can I still spend these if I went around the world?
Also, since the pence don't say any specific country, can they be used outside of Great Britain?

The 50 pence and 10 pence UK coins are the old large style which no longer circulate. You might be able to use these on the UK but many people would refuse to take them. You can use the 5 pence in the UK.

In short, no. These coins are "homeland" types, intended for use in Britain itself. There are a few crown dependencies (Isle of Man, Jersey, Guernsey and Alderney) and overseas territories (Gibraltar, Falkland Islands and Saint Helena-Ascension) that issue their own pound coins and notes. However, as the territorial pounds are valued at par with the British pound, British coins can probably be found in those places as well.

The Chile 500 pesos is still current; the exchange rate makes it worth almost exactly one Canadian dollar at the moment.

That is correct.

I have come across pence and pound coins from the following countries from circulation in England:

Falkland Islands
Gibraltar
Guernsey
Isle of Man
Jersey
St. Helena Ascension

To most people coins from these places look very similar to UK coins.

Yes, I know the store where I got the 500 pesos and I know it's worth CAD$1. If they did that again though I'd be suspicious. Luckily I didn't erupt with a whole "give me real money" speech, lol. I also acquired several New Pence and Two Pence copper pieces. They are pretty sweet even if circulated. These coins were store in a plastic bag, hence the verdigris. Those were the best samples of the lot. Others were pretty green. I really love the 50 Pence piece. What a honker!

Side note: I was looking at 3 Pounds I have, two are from 1983, one is from 1984. On the rims, the 1983s say DECUS ET TUTAMEN, while the 1984 says NEMO ME IMPUNE LACESSIT, upside-down. Also the reverses have differing designs. Not being from the UK, I find this kind of fascinating to get such a brief sample where there is "change" in the style.

These One Pound coins I'm sure still circulate in England, right?

Yes, the 1 pound coins still circulate and they use different designs on the back from 1983 to 2007 to represent the various parts of the UK (England, Scotland, Wales, and North Ireland). In 2008 and 2009, the reverse was the new Royal Shield design. In 2010 and 2011 two special 1 pound coins will be released. This year one for London, England and Belfast, Northern Ireland.

DECUS ET TUTAMEN, meaning 'An Ornament and a Safeguard'
Used on British, English and Northern Ireland designs.

NEMO ME IMPUNE LACESSIT, meaning 'No-one provokes me with impunity', which is the Latin Motto of the Order of the Thistle.
Used on Scottish designs.

PLEIDOL WYF I'm GWLAD, meaning 'True am I to my country', taken from the Welsh National Anthem.
Used on Welsh designs.
