There is always a lot of discussion on what makes a variety and as they say a picture is worth a thousand words...I am not sure how much work it would be but if people are willing it might help out new collectors (and me ) to tell the difference ...the 1965 pennies are a good example...

recently some one posted the proper way to count the leaves in the large penny, Little things like that can be a big help..I downloaded the picture grabbed my loupe put up my do not disturb sign and happily looked for varities based on that... didn't find any but it was fun.

just thought I would throw that out there.

Hi, and welcome to the drowd!
On the large cents the even numbers aer on the inside od the vine. The top, 12 o'clock it the 16/1 position to start counting clockwise. Lead #8, is ths last one at the bottom., before you srttart up the left side of the coin.
Hope this helps.

Here's a few of the common ones. For the LB 25c, remember that between 1965 and 1978, ALL 25c except the 1973 SB were large bust type. The 1973 SB is the only SB coin in the series up to 1978. These are all very easy to spot with a little practice. Credit for the 1973 picture goes to (?). I had it stored on my drive.
Thanks to whoever originally created it. The 1965's are my creations.

noobdude, those other two pics are for a 1965 penny.

Not trying to be mean but you are bring it up a little much. Try to keep it to one discussion.

Other than the bead position the small bust can be identified by the detail of the hair. The differences in the Mountie quarters is still very noticeable and can be seen from ten paces. This information can be found in various books and they'll pretty much answer any question you have.

If you have a 1973 large bust we would be glad if you posted an image.
