Found this at an estate sale. What is it? Does it have any value?

Beats me, but I'd keep it just to be able to say I owned the Brooklyn Bridge. I'm certain a token collector will chime in. If you don't receive any real info from this forum, you could send a picture to Coin World and maybe their staff has some info on the medal. Most centenial coins featuring the BB usually have more inscriptions on the reverse and obverse.

Some facts:

The Brooklyn Bridge opened - May 24,1883, 2:00 PM (the same year on the token)

The portrait looks like George Washington.

I actually found this:

The portrait is the same, but the obverse is different. The reverse is similar.

Couldn't find anything else at this point, but it's a start.

Thanks. I had found similar tokens as well, but this one is TINY. It is smaller than the gold $1 coins from the same time period.

I would like to be corrected but could that portrait be of John Roebling the designer of the Bridge?

Here's another interesting tidbit. I just read a short biography on James Longacre. It describes a pattern he created for the Two Cent Piece in 1863. It described the obverse as having a right-facing portrait of George Washington, with the words God and Our Country at the top. Sounds familiar. There was no picture. There was no mention of the Brooklyn Bridge.

I haven't been able to find a picture of this pattern.
