The obverse looks really wrong, or at least heavily altered. What do you think?

I think is not real.Beads on obverse are in very good condition but lettering next to it (1-2 oclock)is heavily damaged.Strange coloration.Just a thought.

The surfaces aren't original. I can think of a few legitimate events which might lead to this look, most involving trauma during the coin's circulation, with perhaps some artificial, um, "correction" later.

I believe it's real. Not that I'd spend money on it to find out.

His other Half Dime had a weird date. Does the date look right?

if that was original condition, why would he just hold it in his hand like that? Hes obviously not worried about damaging it.
