ok I just went into town today, and on the way, I went to 4 banks, searching for half dollars, I went to chase bank (2 of them) but both said they had no half dollars, went to US bank, they had 2 half dollars, but they were common dates, and finally I went to a local bank, had 8.50 in halves, but still common dates, I live in a small town, so I though older coins would be more common, so which bank is the best to get a decent amount of half dollars?

None will really carry them. Talk to the teller and order a box of $500

The one bank that I really like and dumped two of my other banks was cities bank. They usually always have half's in all 3 locations I go to and have a swipe system for depositing and withdrawing that is a plus

Wells Fargo does good by me. I don't buy mass quantities by a long shot, I typically only buy a roll at a time....but every time I go in asking for a roll they always have one.

No bank I have seen has consistantly stocked halves, unless they are leftover from an order. Typically if you want halves you have to order them...

I know not everyone has this option, but where I live I am a member of a large bank and a member of a Credit Union. The large bank won't even give me the time of day, yet all I have to do is talk to the head teller at the CU and she will order them for me. I use my main bank, that wouldn't give me the time of day as a dump bank. LOL.

Your best bet is to order a box of halves, since banks don't order them regularly. They only carry what someone else drops off. As far as ordering, if you keep asking, eventually you will find a bank willing to order them for you.

Try citi bank. They may have what I dump on them leftover still

I don't know of any that regularly stock them so take the advice of other members and order in bulk.
