OK I have been looking googling everywhere for these on the net. They say World mint of California at Bakersfield. Is that now the Franklin mint? I can't find anymore of these anywhere. Oh I did find some in silver and some made in copper but no pewter. Anyone know anything about them. I bet Ken Potter does.

A google search of the exact phrase "World mint of California" only returned two hits... this page here on CCF, and an archived ebay auction for an album full of these ingots, depicting stamps which in turn depict various aspects of the space program.

Dunno. Maybe they were hoping people would read as far as "ONE OUNCE" and not notice the "SOLID PEWTER" line.

Or maybe they were trying to corner the market in pewter.

I think I remember when I was a kid everyone talking about how much pewter was going to be in the next few years. I admit it was usually people my age that were talking about it or someone in my friends family but still remember it because I had some pewter figurines of dragons and wizards and everyone going crazy over them because they were pewter
