Just noticed that the gold coin contained in matched set is actually .99999 fine, and sells for a fair price considering the cost of previous .99999 issues. (<$650 CAD for the silver and gold piedfort set)

Mintage for the set is 3000. I personally think it is way too high. Should have been 1500 - at the most.
Granted it is 99999, but still...

^ Yes, but you can imagine what the issue price would have been for a mintage of only 1500. This is one of the first mint issues where I can honestly say the price is fair - if not an excellent value, considering the metal purity, price, and weight of the two coins in the set.
If I could afford it, I would definitely purchase it.

defone, my home-brewed NCLT equation works like this:
if (mintage X issue price < $500k) .....Super else if (mintage X issue price < $1M) .....Ok else .....Dud.
This equation has worked pretty good for me so far.

Looks like the single Silver Piedfort has already sold out at the Mint - much quicker than I expected. I hope I can still find one through a local dealer.

the design used for the piedfort silver maple leaf if the same as the 20Th anniversary Gold plated leaf silver maple leaf but they inverted the maple leaf see, This is the 2010 Piedfort new release: Here is the 2008 20Th anniversary with selective gold plating: I found this interesting as I was looking at my collection I compared those two and realised that they where using same leaf design but opposite side.

It also appears as 'one' of the leaves on the very nice 2009 1/25-oz. gold proof ('Red Maple'), though inverted. http://www.mint.ca/store/coin/125oz...9-prod620004Nice design,I actually don't mind it being recycled!

on this 1/25 oz of gold coin you talking, the big leaf isn't inverted it is just smaller than the original design. For the smaller leaf beside it is just rotated 1/6 turn to the left with a smaller size.

Just purchased mine today (although I can afford new coins like I can afford a hole in the head). Excellent appearance, much better than I expected (photos I've seen don't do it justice). I'm not at all a fan of reverse-proof finishes, particularly with the standard silver maple design, but this coin is an exception. Very attractive piece; glad I purchased. Likely to be a great investment piece also, for anyone who purchased more than one.

^ It has, and it is an attractive coin, but part of the reason for these quick 'sell-outs' are large volume purchases by dealers. My local dealer received 30-40 of the silver pieces last week and claims to have sold half already.
This coin is sure to sell-out at dealers and be unavailable soon, but I know that a lot of recent Mint 'sell-outs' are sitting unpurchased in coin store stockrooms and display cases (although at appreciated/current market prices).
