just wondering if any of you guys that have big banks like Chase, BOA try to get a couple rolls when you go on vacation. I'm going on a 4 state vacation, 2 of which are major tourist spots, and I was thiking of trying to get few rolls, I figure if I don't keep them I can use them for vending machinces, and the halfs for fast food. am I crazy or is it a good idea?

Depends what your vacation consists of and how you like to spend your time. Checking other regions might produce oddities. Do it if you like.

we are just going to see family, we are miltary and only get home once a year maybe if we are lucky, so mostly just hanging out with family and friends, that's why I figured to grab a few boxes, won't take long, and somethig to do while sitting around the house catching up

I think it's a great idea. As an added bonus, you can have some fun watching the reactions you get when you spend them. Chances are good you'll come across a few people that won't have any idea what you've just handed them.

that's what I was thinking, i'll be honest, my grandma always told me halfs were special, I always saved them, well one day at work I see my boss(new boss, new base), going through boxes of halfs, and here I thought they were special , so I brought all mine in and had like 7 silver and that's it. cashed the rest in, was heart broken, lol. that was about 10 months ago, and as of about 2 weeks ago, I started doing my own coin roll hunting

If you are doing cash transactions I would go to just about any bank. Especially in small towns and ask for customer rolls. They at least produce the best for me.

I think its a good idea if you are going far enough and live on the east coast and looking for Denver or SanFransisco coins or the other way around. Because I know here in NC we hardly ever see anything but P minted coins and anything else is an oddity so I am sure its about the same in other parts of the country that probably never hardly see's a P minted coin in their change
