I have a chance to buy thousand dollar bundles of random two dollar bills. I have received some sequential, and mint. Is it worth it to search these, and if so, for what?

Buying at face value I hope?

Always worth it to search as you never know what you will find. As for what to search for...

Here is a topic on that very subject: https://goccf.com/t/71888

Thanks Nickelman!! Yep, face value. I got a whole uncirculated brick of sequential 1976 K series $2 notes, and they were promptly stolen. So I do a appreciate the tips. Had I known all this then, they'd have been in my safe deposit box immediately, instead of at my family reunion with bubba and family. LOL

NOOOOOOOO! I hate thieves. How I would LOVE to have one of those. I know they are "common" generally speaking, but a brick of uncirculated... awesome. I'm going to get my voodoo doll out of the closet and put a curse on that thief.

You had better close your eyes, as chicken blood may be involved.

Wow - That brick was worth 3 to 5 times broken apart.

Do you have the SN range? That's one way to catch them if this took place recently.

Better than that, I photographed some of the bills.... a representative sample.... and the financial concern was provided a copy of those pics. I am waiting for them to tell me what they did with the photo card, maybe then you all can guide me on how to skin some rats... right here! Hard to beat a good photo... incontrovertible evidence I think the legal experts call it. They had to lay up for me to do it, and how they knew, among all that was in my auto- that bundle was there. Three to five times? Well, now that makes me somewhat peaved.

3 to 5 times face? Someone would have to want them bad in my opinion. I would get the $2 bills for face and search them for errors and stars. maybe look for some with odd serial number combos and dump the rest. Or you could put together some sets of sequential numbered notes list them for a premium and see if anyone bites.
Rest in Peace

Wow...excuse my ignorance, but how much face value is in a brick? I just had $600 in hundreds stolen about a month ago, right out of my house. That was quite painful in and of itself. So sorry to hear about that legend. Thieves suck!!

A brick is 1000 bills. So it was $2,000 face since they were $2 bills...

Legend,
You need to post the SN range on currency forums such as here so that folks can be on the lookout for your notes, also the area of the country where this took place. That's how some of this is solved.

Tim, as per the price. If you notice the brick in question was UNC's (full brick). 1976 chcu notes sell for 3 to 5 times face in lots (sequential). Packs (100 notes) with original strap on I have seen sell for $450. I personally have sold 50 - 1976 notes for $4 each and am able to sell the current 2003A packs for $250 as and when someone wants one. It's different from region to region in this country and not everyone is able to obtain chcu / unc notes at face.

Well whadda ya know, a whole bundle pops up. Doesn't match the 1976 bundles, but it is a start:

Thanks for the help, maybe we can skin a cat later. Many ways, you know.
