I recently received these coins as part of a collection a friend has given me to sell for him. They're in pretty nice condition. I especially like the 2 1/2 Gulden, in part because because of it's large diameter. The 1G has some really nice toning going on that I like as well. Any comments or additional info on these would be greatly appreciated. Can somone offer some specific silver content info on them (%, values, etc.) ? Thanks for your kind assistance.

I just found about 12 of those in my collection. Love 'em. Yes the 2.5 is very nice coin. I only have 1 but love it.

The 2.50 gulden coin is quite interesting - used to be really big (as in the images above) with a diameter of 38 mm. In 1959 a smaller type was introduced - still silver but "only" 33 mm. The last type, between 1969 and 2001, was a nickel piece, Ø 29 mm ... In that condition yours is basically worth its metal value.

The 2.50 gulden coin is called a Rijksdaalder, the 25 cents, as it is the quarter of a gulden, is called a Kwartje.

I thank each of you for adding the great details associated with these coins. I also have a handful of 1c & 5c Netherland pieces in this bunch from the Netherlands. As well as one example each of the 2 1/2 & Half Cent piece. Here, have a look: Well, after going through them again, there seems to be a pretty good collection of the 1c pieces here. There are 20 unique examples of the 1c shown. The bottom row is there to show the other side of the coin and they are all 1941. There are a few other duplicates in the group that are not pictured. The dates range from 1878 - 1941 in the cents and the three 5c pieces are 1914, 1930, & 1934. The 2 1/2c is 1941 & the 1/2c is a 1937. These images are pretty good quality so if you zoom in on them alot of nice detail can be seen - love my new scanner . Anyone know much about the coins in these two pics as to rarity/value? Thanks!

Oops, looks like I have to take back what I said about being able to see the finer details upon zooming in. I guess some quality was lost in the re-sizing and posting.
If you're really interested I guess I could try e-mailing some better quality images to you on request.

I have been looking for a 2.50 gulden coin, a "Rijksdaalder" with no success, suddenly a pic pops out, wow, nice coin! it's 38.5mm diameter, crown size, fits nicely in a OFEC silver crown collection!
