Do non error circulated Ikes have any bulk premium value ? My bank never has any. Seems to me they're being hoarded.

Non errors usually do not bring in any premium. Some varieties are rarer and they will bring a higher price. This also has to do with condition. For example the 1972 variety #2 is worth more than the others. These are being hoarded. I go to banks and most of the tellers say that they keep all large dollars.

That's not very good customer service. I would change banks. Maybe that's why my bank never has any. The tellers are hoarding them and not saying anything.

I have noticed in the last few year that it is getting harder and harder to find Ike's in the wild. The last time I was able to get any from a bank was last year A teller friend of mine found 54 of them that came in. My cousins wife is a teller also and she tried to order some from the Fed but there are none to be had. This is not going to be like the Morgan's and Peace dollars. where they end up having a GSA sale to get rid of the surplus. There is no Surplus to be had. They were only minted for Eight years and I personally saw moving boxes full of Brown Box and Blue Pack Ike's shipped of to be melted during the last Silver run up in 1979-80 when Silver hit $50.00 per ounce

I was told by one dealer that Germany and Japan were buying Ike's from the Federal Reserve by the millions. He said that he did not know why. I find that a little hard to believe, but then again stranger things have happened.

From a check of recent completed listings on ebay, they do sell at a premium. Last 5 lots of 100 sold went for $134, $140, $140, $121, and $150. I see the "commons" for $1.50 each in coin shops.

"Germany and Japan were buying Ike's from the Federal Reserve by the millions"? Possibly for their melting pot for metal content?

The banks never have any because they are not used in circulation. I ask all the time too and when I do find some they go up on ebay in bulk for a modest premium.

I just spend mine. Recently I would see them back in a bank after I spend about 10 of them. So I want to find out if all they are doing is being returned to a bank. So I marked the reed with a black line perpendicular to the I in Liberty. Personally I find that it is easier. I got 120 from 3 banks last summer and a month ago I got 125 from one bank. I still have them. I offered them up on craigslist and found odd offers from $1 each to a free dinner and wine (im 19 and with no offer toward the Ike dollars). They have been gaining premium but the market out there is not good enough to make money unless you sell a large lot on ebay. Then there are fees. YUK

Exactly what I find at the 5 different banks I deal with. Most will not even order any for customers anymore since they say all that happens is they just come back to them since no one wants them. Stores don't want them due to no place for them in modern cash registers. Conductors on trains say the same thing. No place for them. This is what is happening to the half dollar as well.

I've asked at my bank and they say they can't order them because there isn't a spot on the order sheet. They also have said that if they try to request them special by writing them in they just get small dollars.

A couple of months ago, I brought in 100 circulated Ikes to my local bank, and they jammed their coin counter machine. The younger tellers seemed very interested in them since they don't see them much anymore, but I was happy to trade them in for a much lighter $100 bill.

I was told that some dealers will pay a small premium, say $1.10 a coin. I would love to find one. I live in the Philadelphia area so if anyone knows if a dealer paying more than $1 let me know. Or if you have some trades.

I guess the only way they are going up and dollar coins in general gain acceptance is when the paper dollar ends, which I can't see coming for a long time.
