I THOUGHT this was the case, but I just want to make sure...

If I plan to incur a few thousand in sales per month, is getting a store worth it? It seems you save a lot on final value fees, but is there some kind of catch? I just racked up (to my dismay) about $500 in FVF so I want to see if I can save some money.

I got nothing except an "ouch" expression of sympathy.

Final value fees are actually worse with an ebay store, but the insertion fees aren't as much. Not to mention you have the monthly subscription fee on top of it. ebay will get their fees no matter which way you do it. If you have Top Rated Seller status, you get a 20% discount on Final Value Fees, which does help take a little bit of the sting out.

See here for the fee schedule:

It says they're 4.0% after the first $50 or something, which is lower than the flat 9%.

Oops...I should have clarified......I was thinking of the Fixed Price format.

The final value fees are more when you use the Fixed Price format with an ebay store versus Fixed Price format without an ebay store.

This is correct if you use Auction style listings and have an ebay store subscription. I forgot about the different fee structure when Auction style listings are used. Sorry 'bout that!

You also get a mailing list option with stores. Once you get subscribers it's a huge help. Susan sends out the newsletter with the new listings and you can see the spike of bids start in about 20 minutes.

ebay auction fee is high but limited to the maximum $50 charge per auction item, what get's me is the 2.9% fee from Paypal which I am unsure if there's a limit?

But if you sell enough, there's that percentage of discount?! And you would need a lot of items to sell in case you want a ebay store?

Paypal fees are not out of line with the industry. Get your own merchant account and you'll see. It's all about he same, including the risks.

Why is the FVF worse with fixed price for a store? Any ideas?
