Hi,

I would like to obtain some ideas on this attached Egyptian coin in terms of estimated grade and current $ value.

Thanks

I have one of these (1916) in the same condition and with the same degree of patination. I bought it about 10 years ago.

I just wanted an example during the time of British control in Egypt. In 1916 the Ottoman Empire (of which Egypt was a part) was in it's last throes, and it was easy for the Brits to move in.

The holder says: 'Egypt 20 piastres 1916 nearly EF $22' I don't know the exact year I bought it or what the exchange rate was at the time, but I would figure a value something like $40 USD now.

The coin has some nice detail and not much wear, there are a few rim dings. But overall I would grade it at AU-50.

KM321 in Krause list VF at $25 and XF (which I'm guessing is a AU50 equivalent for foreign) at $85. Very nice coin
