Seeing as local banks here have so many ikes I decided to start
looking at them more closely. Usually I do not bother with them
but I have found some 72-P type 2's and type 3's and one 76-P type 1
that has a peg leg. Is that normal (peg leg) for that yr/m.m. coin ?
I picked up over a hundred ikes today just for the heck of it and
will look at them later. What peg legs if any should I look for and what about this talon/head thing ? These coins are not silver/proofs just regular business strikes. I remember I had posted for sale or auction
a while back a couple of these but no interest was shown. Just wanted
an idea if even worth keeping any. I did post at a thread about ike pics. earlier also. In the past I have just passed on picking up ikes
at the bank (unless they were silver) and when I did I just sold them for cheap or gave them out
in change at my flea market etc. If any interest I will post them for sale or auction but wanted some input first. Thanks.

If you havn't already visited this site, this is the place to go for all of your IKE info/questions/values etc.

www.theikegroup.org

Regarding peg legs, the one to look for the most is the 1971S Business Strike Peg Leg.

Also the 1972D in MINT STATE and the 1974D "Major Peg-Leg" are nice coins to locate.

I'm personally partial to the 1972P Type 2 and the 1971D "FEV" Friendly Eagle" Ikes.

A little while ago I found a 1971D FEV DDO / DDR that was attributed as a new find by Dr Wiles( Coneca)for the DDO and coupled with an existing DDR. These coins are worth hundred's of dollars depending on grade etc!

We can't get Ikes here. Feel fortunate. Most Type 2's are extremely valuable depending on grade. Respective of the Ike series that is! A 76 (Philadelphia) Type one is very hard to find. Still haven't found a peg leg.

Thanks
Yes, I have been to that site. Now have to figure out the friendly eagle thing and the talon thing and ? and get an idea what the values of all these coins are.
No idea. Guess i'll just check them all and post them as a lot in the auction forum when I am done looking for the talon and eagle. Maybe some people on here are interested in them. Already have 3 ea. 72-P's
type 2, 14 ea. type 3's, 1 ea. 76-P type 1 which has a pegleg and a couple other peg leg ones.
