On the other hand, out of the 3 (Previously. Now 4?) 2005P non-magnetic pennies, 2 of them were listed on ebay....

And there are offerings of many scarce stuff occasionally.

If there were six 1969 10c LD on ebay, right now, what would be the conclusion about scarcity?

I don't think these 1953 nickels are as scarce as they are portrayed to be. I believe there are many more sitting in drawers and jars that are simply unattributed. I found 4 of these "mules" in 1 lot of nickels just a few months ago, 2 of each type. More will definitely show up as will 2005P non mag pennies now that more people are aware of their existence......the hunt is on.

is the 2005P non mag only from UNC sets? Or have they been found in the wild as well?

The question is, have the new young collectors been lost to the never-can-like-toning side of collecting.

Supply and demand, with demand being lost to flash.

I think you may be right dialog_gvf, I think young collectors are more attracted to "ooo shiny" rather than a beautifully toned coins. I might add that they may even be attracted to cleaned coins. A thread for a different topic.

Nice coin gord, I would say VF-20.
