I have the option to buy this coin for $165 USD.

VF-20 trends for $150 in Charlton while XF-40 gets $225. I would expect this to be somewhere in between, maybe a 30 or even a 35? I guess what I want to know is, will I be getting a good deal?

Just checked the Bay. Didn't see one this nice but one was close. It was only $158 shipped and it was not certified. I'd check it out before I bought this one. Although this one is a beautiful coin.

I guess it depends on why you would want that particular coin. If you are a variety collector, this is decent example of 1 of only 2 obverse dies that coined both 1858 and 1859/8 coins. This is a late die state so it had coined both by this point. Having both a 58 and a 9/8 with the same obverse is quite cool.

There are some pretty distracting marks on her face and nose... I'd probably steer clear for that money.

VF. I wouldn't pay $165.00. I agree the scratches on the face are distracting. $100.00-$120.00 tops.

Just curious whether that pic was from a dealer. You rarely see photos of the coin that look that great on ebay. It leaves you guessing sometimes if it is worth the money to bid on.

It's VF, good details but does show some wear. I always focus on the hair and leaf details, and the one shown here has most of those. It would easily fetch $150. Just my humble opinion.
