I found a 1977 1 dollar bill in very good condition. The plate number on the front is 1344 and on the back it is 2586. I have not seen any this high, they are usually in the hundreds. Does this add any value or should I buy myself another $1 bill?
Plates until the 80s were very high because instead of numbering it by series as we do now, they were just numbered sequentially since the start of production. So in that case, the first back plates were manufactured when the first FRNs carried "In God We Trust" and likewise for the face plate.
