We just returned home from the ANA Convention.

Dsking's post pretty much says it all. It was great meeting her and her husband. Both were very nice people and enjoyable to visit with. Dsking has a pleasant, bubbly personality, and like me, was quite impressed and overwhelmed by all we saw.

Dsking wasn't the only CCF member I met. Daniel Carr was also there, and it was good to talk with him and see some of his work. Also, there was a display showing how he designs coins and medals using computers.

I held back a little on photography and only took 75 pictures. I will mail a dozen or so to Susan, and if she cares to, perhaps she or Bobby would post them.

Millions and millions of dollars worth of coins for sale, and the famous rare ones for us coin collectors to gawk at.

I was a little surprised that I was allowed to photograph all of them, and also that they appeared to be encased behind fairly thin plexiglass. There were guards (Denver City Police) there, but I expected more. A friend who accompanied me asked if they would allow him to hold a gold bar which was exhibited, and they said "sure." So, he got to hold about a half million bucks in his hands. After holding the gold he made one of a couple purchases at the convention -- 1500 Wheat Cents, at face value.

I didn't buy much because I was more than a little short on funds. I did buy a convention medal, my 40 year ANA pin (actually I'm cruising in on 45 years), and a beautiful 1964 quarter (GEM PF + 67) which I needed for my collection.

So, if Susan and Bobby are willing to post the pictures, they could be up by the end of the week. Included in the pictures are the super rarities.

Great experience. Next year the Convention (Monry Show) is in Milwaukee. Maybe I'll find a way to attend.

Just read Bryan's post about his ANA Convention pictures.

Perhaps Susan will go ahead and post some of mine also in that I have pictures of dsking and Daniel Carr, as well as a few others which Bryan doesn't have.

scoutjim99, Thanks for asking about quarters.

I don't know why, in 50 years of collecting, I never started on quarters!

But now I am.

As soon as a few days pass I will get organized and figure out where I'm short on quarters. Then maybe I can do some trading and get some of those holes filled.

Hi Gary,
I'm glad to hear about your exciting experience!!It's cool you got to meet other members,it's always neat when you can put a face to someone you normally just chat with.I got 6 silver quarters from a really generous forum member just last week in a trade,2 being proofs, before I didn't have one single silver Washington quarter. And the proofs have really got my attention. :) sn31.

sn31, I can't promise a thing, but I'll let you know if I have any extra quarters.

I have been sitting aside the really nice ones I find for about a year now. I have tried not to duplicate the date, but if I did, I would be happy to let you have them.

I'll probably be working on the quarters later this week, or next.

I'll let you know if I have any extras, especially silver.

Gary: It was so wonderful to meet you! PJ and I really enjoyed your company. You are a bubbly person also...I didn't expect any less! I'm still all a twitter about so many items that we saw from the rare ones to the miniscule little ones. I will definitely attempt another convention. Who knows, maybe I'll return to AZ in 08! Maybe even WI - who knows!

I too met Daniel Carr and his very nice wife and purchased his signature NY Quarter and ofcourse, the Commens for the Denver Mint. Both are very precious to me!

I really have to sign off for tonight - although I don't want too.

Later family members and wonderful friends!

sn31, I'll try the e-mail again.

However, it's not that important. Actually, I just wrote that I'd be mailing you quarters in a few days.

Scoutjim, When I see a post where I messed up and made a typo, I try and correct it. I screw up often!!
