Started coin roll hunting for the first time. First went to a Chase and got 35 rolls, some were plastic from Brinks others were paper. No silver just 16 bicentennials. Immediately later this day went and got a freshly sealed Brinks box and also found 16 bicentennials but no server. Not sure why but I'm keeping the bicentennials, I know they arent worth much. Would it be accurate to say that bicentennials are the " Wheat cent" of quarters? |

That would imply that they are worth more than face in circulated condition. Which they are not. I can go in almost any coin store and get paid 2.5 cents for every wheat. While they are nice novelties they just made too many of them and people kept them. It's like collecting every Delaware State Quarter you find. If it makes you happy go for it just don't expect profit. Silver is super rare to find in quarters and dimes. I have found 1 in 8 months searching for ATB Quarters |

Interesting, although I thought I saw that circulated rolls of bicentennials go for around 20 bucks on ebay. |

In my 11+ years of CRHing, I've done about 10-20k in quarters. Never found any silver. My goal this year is to find a silver quarter, but yet again, that goal has been a long time goal lol.

On my short vacation in Florida last Fall I got two bicentennial quarters in change - I spent one of them, and the other is just waiting with my unspent holiday money for another trip to the USA...

I haven't searched any boxes of quarters of several years and for good reason. Probably out of around 30 boxes searched, I found maybe four silver quarters. Usually since I tend to find around 1.25 silver dimes per box (my record is seven in one box), I see that there's better return for checking dimes, not to mention I've found a few dozen Mercs and even a 1907 Barber in AG condition. I generally just cash in on the dimes/halves find and spend to complete my quarters set. Of all the modern coin sets, my Washington quarters is by far the least complete, as I'm missing 17 dates total, compared to 4 Lincolns, 1 Jefferson, 0 Roosevelts, and 0 Franklins. I did find a 1999-S Delaware proof once though. The reason they are just tough is that they are the most widely circulated coin by far and are still fairly easy to notice if silver, compared to the small dimes and the halves that seemingly get lost somewhere in an attic or jar. |

Woo-Ho found a 1964 quarter in laundry machine money yesterday, Friday the 13th. I shake the coins sideways to check for plain edges before putting them in the bank bag. Usually they're from the Philippines or UAR.
Put it in wife's VD card and now cant find it. Check your change.

Bought a few rolls of quarters for the wife to check for ATB. I got first dibs to look for silver but nothing. These were plastic rolls so easy to see nothing good inside :-( |

Box #1: No silver, but I was able to complete my 1965-2008 set. Only a half dozen 2009s. Tons of ATB. Completed 2013 and all but 1 coin for 2014. Also found a 2015 Homestead. Still missing mainly D mints from 2010 and 2012. Also found some BU States and a real nice 1976. |

I haven't checked quarter boxes for years but two weeks ago I bought a set of two Littleton folders for the State Quarters (P, D, S, & silver S). I got a box of quarters from the bank Thursday and hoped to find all the P's and D's to fill the folders. I never expected to find any silver quarters. I've never have found any in the past and that result stayed the same. I WAS hoping to find a nice AU for each state (and territory) but that didn't happen either. Out of 2000 coins I only found six 2009 quarters, and only two were in real nice condition. I did find a P & D of every state, but only about half were in great condition. I saved the best of each quarter but will look for better ones later this month in another box. Additional stats: I found 135 2010-2014 ATB Quarters (6.75% of the box), 6 2009 quarters, and the rest were around 50-50 for the 1999-2008 State Quarters and the 1965-1998 base quarters. The 1999-2001 quarters had more than 2002-2008 combined. Oh, I forgot to mention that I DID hope to find at least one S-Proof quarter; but that type was barren too. :( |

Today I searched through the ATB's I pulled from my last box, looking for all five of the 2014-D's because I never found any in circulation all last year. Out of the 135 ATB's, 97 were from 2014. I only got 9 "D" coins; the rest are all "P". There were 3 different types; one Tennessee, one Virginia, and 7 Utah. Still no Colorado or Florida. Maybe next time? |

All of my years coin collecting and searching, I have not came across any proof quarters. Yesterday, I got just one roll of quarters from the bank and it yielded a 1991-S proof! I picked up a shift at work today and in my register from a partial quarter roll, low and behold, a 2011-S Chickasaw clad proof! What are the odds?

Thank you, atticguy. It could be all about law of averages. After no proofs in my entire life, two in two days from two rolls. Today, no proofs found but searched a roll at work and did land my very first 2015 quarter, a Philadelphia-mint Homestead quarter!
