We have a radio station here that has an on air auction. Basically merchants give merchandise or gift certificates in exchange for commercial time. Then the radio station auctions off the items on air. Most of them go for 50%-75% of the actual price. I got $75 in gift certificates for $48 to a pawn shop. For my $48 I got [22] Mecury dimes, [2] 90% halves and Barber quarters, one of which was a 93's. I figure it's about $94 in silver not including the Barbers may be worth more in book value.
The radio station also has a web site they put items on sometimes at discounts. I just thought this might be a way for some of you to get silver under melt if you can find something similar in your area. I'm listening for antique stores also.

P.S. I put a post on a month ago about the pawn shop having some silver slightly under melt. I decided to gamble and wait for this auction before I bought so I could get the discount. The Mercs. were in a folder for $30 and the Barbers were in a folder for $30.
The halves were marked $7 for JFK and $8 for Ben.

Just an update. I bought a $100 certificate to a different pawn shop 20 miles away for $56.
I got some bad info on it. A friend told me they had lots of coins for about melt. Unfortunately
he failed to notice there are two pawn shops 100 feet apart. He was at the wrong one. The one I had the certificate for had almost no coins at all. So for my $56 I got a 2008 proof set and 5 40% halves. Not terrible but not what I was hoping for.
