I found an old coin in my dads stuff and wanted to find out info on it.
On the side with the date it is marked: 8R.G.1827.F.S.10Ds.20Gs

Thanks for any help on this coin.

Hmm correct me if I'm wrong mexican experts,

8 Reales (denomination), 1827 (date) and I'm not sure about the G, could be a mint mark, not sure though.

10 Ds. 20 Gs (dineros and granos) which equates to .902777 fine (silver)

Some of the other guys probably more historical info about it. but this should get you going in your Google Searches.

Welcome to CCF, 134rkmtn36, but ...

Lots of those "pieces of eight" have been counterfeited for years - I had one in my hands a few weeks ago - and your information just isn't enough for us to form an opinion on this supposed coin.

It is probably a Guadalajara issue, but the mintmark would have to be a G with a superscript A, FS refers to the name of the assayer.

A picture is important since there are a number of varieties that can determine value. So as mentioned earlier...

Must be the Guadalajara mint.
Here's an example.

If youre still around OP, some pics would be awesome, if it is a legit Guadalajara cap & ray in decent condition it is desirable to many collectors of this series.
