I shot this today; it's a good example of how easy coin photos are using the CanonSD790IS.
In this case, I used only low natural light and pushed the speed to ISO 800. The results are still pretty good for hand-held.

Thanks! It's a little distorted because I used macro at 1.0X, which creates some barrel distortion.
I get better results with my SD790 (or 780) using 1.4-1.8X, because it flattens the field.

That is very good. I normally have to use a black background on my coins to get darker coins to show up like that. The contrast between white and brown normally makes them too dark.

Thanks! I dropped out the background using photoshop.
It was originally shot on a mid-gray surface.
