If you have a coin with a G-4 obverse and F-12 reverse, do you call it a G-4 coin or a VG-8 coin?

G-6 maybe VG- because the obverse carries more weight.

If there's really that much difference, then I'd re-check my grading first. And as SC said, VG8 would be the top grade possible in such a situation with G06 being more likely.

Actually what I have is an 1800 large cent badly worn on the obverse--an AG3--and a VG8 on the reverse. I'm wondering if it is okay to call it a G4.

I've seen split grading so it would grade like G4/F12, if you want to go that route.

Really need some pics to be of much help but if it is a AG3/VG8, then I would not hesitate to give it a G04 overall.
