Ahh don't sell your self short, you may be new to the coin collecting World , but between translation and familiarization with the subject your opinions would be greatly appreciated, we have all sorts of knowledgeable people on this forum who if they can't help you with a specific topic will try to lead you in the right direction, so please don't hesitate to ask any questions you have or answer any questions we already have posted.. What all do you collect, and hear are some pics of coins and notes to make you feel right at home

We have a couple Philippine collectors. Hopefully one will respond to your post. I can help with some identification if needed.

I'm going to move this topic to the World Coins forum as I think it will get better exposure there.

Ed Reyes? Yes, he is from the Phillipines and his Grandfather I believe had a fairly nice collection.

We do need a more active member from there.

There are many collectors seen in the web even have web site of their own, but non of them I knew personally, just in case you will drop by or know someone going to philippines especially this christmas holiday or before new year most of the staff in the bank encourage people to change their currency for new notes for next year issue they are changing it by a bundle in mint condition, I have few in the philippines ,also to those go around a lot in the city you will noticed some vendor buying old coins, watches dont know the story behind it but I suspect that they are menting the silver fo jewelry or they knew someone to sell them.

My wife is from the Philippines and goes for visits every few years. She always brings me back some new coins. The older one are harder to come by in the provinces. There are a couple dealers in Manila but the prices seem high. I just bought this coin on e-bay the other day, haven't received it yet.

echi

We filipino as far as,I know are not really into coin collecting,

Most of my US-PHIL. coins are from my grandma which pass to my mother.more like a coin in a jar some folks like the habit of keeping small change or few money in times of trouble, maybe time pass by and all small denomination are out in circulation and no used anymore.

But mostly circulated and in small denomination mostly 20 cents,

There is another forum a PHIL base but mostly focus on there place, but there is a sub topic about old coins and I post and encourage them into this forum some have look but having second thought on dealing online, just search ,batangbaler forum, first page result there site will pop up.

Maybe it is one of our nature a little hesitant in dealing online including me so,I dont blame him,

What ever I did post the CC site in their forum.

There is one thing like to add, in that forum another member mentioned putting old coins on the pillar of the new building as the foundation,If itis seating on coins the thing is the house will be stable this is one of the belief that we have, dont know if we have it fron the chinese or european.

Way back ago just heard that a chinese house was demolised for a new building the laborer saw some base or jar inside the pillar.

Others placed coins on the pillar for new building almost same as ours.

Well I'm not into coin collecting since I got here but have some coins I have in the PHIL. those coins that are to small for buying and those that they dont want it, all ended up to me, now ,Im teaching them if they like whatever they want.

On that time a new house being made in the backyard remembered my mother giving two handfull of 50 centavos 1968 or 70 to the worker to be put on the foundation for much of the post, told her not to much simply not into this kind of belief,

Also we place 3 coins in one of the step, dont know of this if itis from spanish or chinese.

So if you are going to tear down and old house in the PHIL. you can check its foundation.
