So my fiance works at a coffee shop, and a customer tried to pay with a shrek coin. I don't have an image, and I can't seem to find anything about it on the web. I'm assuming it was for a promotion or something.

On one side, it's a picture of Shrek's face, and below that it just says Shrek. On the other side it's his face again, but the word shrek is on his chest with the same font as the movie's title (with the ogre ears on the S). In extremely small font I can read "Shrek tm & (C)2001 DreamWorks L.L.C

I know this may not sound serious, but I am genuinely curious as to what this coin really is. As I said, I'm assuming it was some kind of promotion.

Also if it helps, I'm from Canada.

Thanks if anyone knows anything about this coin!

This was part of a 5-medal set issued by the Royal Canadian Mint, the first of it's "ReelCoinz" products aimed at children - subsequent sets were made for Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, ET, Jurassic Park III and others.

Despite the name, they aren't "real coins" but medals. http://cgi.ebay.com/Shrek---Royal-C...nz_W0QQitemZ380292988086QQcmdZViewItem
