I am watching this auction on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...MEWA:IT&rd=1, $1295.00 is very high. I was out bid for this when a similar one went to auction last week, I lost it for only $25, it sold for $1,025. I have been hearing that this coin will be in the new legacy series for 2006, is this true?

Thanks
Rest in Peace

Welcome to the best coin forum on the internet!

I'm sure Terry or one of our other experts will be able to answer your question.

I can only say I wish I had that sort of money so that I could bid.

The 2006 Legacy set is available now on the mint site. It will NOT have the 2001 Buffalo Silver Coin. It will have a Franklin Silver and a San Francisco Mint Silver along with a proof of each of the current 2006 coins... here is the description of the 2006 set...

2006 United States Mint American Legacy Collection™, Containing San Francisco Old Mint & Benjamin Franklin Silver Dollars, May Be Ordered Also
WASHINGTON - The United States Mint announced today that it will begin taking orders for the 2006 San Francisco Old Mint Commemorative Coins at 12:00 noon (ET) on August 15, 2006. Visitors to the American Numismatic Association's World's Fair of Money® in Denver may also order these new coins at the United States Mint booth August 16-19. There will be order limits of 100 per household for each individual coin option, and a limit of 10 per household for the American Legacy Collection. Order limits will be evaluated after the first 30 days.

Sorry bro...

The 2001 Buffalo was a very popular coin and keeps going up in price, especially since the Gold buffalo has been released because now it seems everyone wants a complete set of each buffalo coin the US mint has minted and alot are ending up in NGC multi holders. This coin was always one of my favorites and like I said they have been going through the roof in price within the past year

Bryan1315, does PCGS have multi holders too? I like this idea. I was thinking of sending some coins into PCGS pretty soon. I'm trying to decide if I want to be a platinum member or a gold member

So how do these NGC multi holders work? If you submit the coins in NGC MS/PF 70 slabs, do you get the same grade coin in the multi holder or do they go for grading again? Do they have a 4 coin multi holder?
Rest in Peace

Sibertekt, Thanks to Terry, I have a 2001 proof silver Buffalo. But not, of course, an PR-70. What a beautiful coin!

How do you know that is NOT a Proof 70 as it has not been slabbed. Personally, for any proof coins that leaves the mint they are, for the most part, all extremely high grade and I will not pay a third party grading service for their educated ESTIMATE on any given coin. If and when hard times ever swoop down upon us those slabbed coins will bring alot of owners (collectors) tons of tears! Buy the coin NOT the slab!
