I feel bad for the owners of the coins.

Some coin machines do, some don't

That is one of the most common things criminals do with stolen coins. There are vending machines everywhere and those stolen coins are used in them as much as possble around here. Also, mixed in with regular coins and taken to a bank, placed in coin counting mcachines in stores, taken to pawn shops, sold at flea markets and many, many other things you can do with coins.
