has anyone any information about how much these rare packs of first minted coins presented to 70 drivers involved in the movement of the decimal currency in 1965-1966 are selling for if if anyone is interested

$1500-2000. Last one I was aware of selling was at Brisbane ANDA last year, it sold for $1500. There was another one that appeared a few times on ebay last year but kept getting pulled a day or so before the auction completed. One of the (if not the) hardest decimal collectables to get your hands on.

The wallet is rare buts all you would be buying the coins are common
There are rarer packaging decimal folders than this one but the fastback is a real icon

We had one surface right here on the forum a couple of years ago; it ended up selling for $1800 in 2008. See this old thread.

All of the early unc RAM wallets did little to protect the coins and the PVC content sweated the coins and tarnished them
Decimal coins before 1984 are best off bought individually from rolls not mint sets unless the coins from wallets at the time of issue were stored out of the wallet professionaly in the days of very few alternatives, true specimens as such hard to find now in perfect brilliant unc

Good point Johnsopet, I agree the PVC degrades and oozes chemicals and green slime over the coins and they end up useless and damaged. I wouldn't however pass by a fastbuck wallet if one were offered to me, but would remove the coins, replace them and store them far far away from the wallet.

All 1966 wallets are very collectable thats for sure
Its a real pity it took till 1984 for the mintsets to have a decent protective type packaging,it wasn't until 1986 until the plastic was sorted (some yellowing but coins ok) and all good from then
