What are some good websites to buy coins from? I feel like ebay is too shaky and I want close to face value. Should I just go to the bank? What is the recommended method?

I would suggest that you start by going to bank and getting rolls of coins to look thru.

There are several good threads here about roll searching.

You need to give us more details about what your collecting goals are.

My wife just got my Christmas present from Collectons. I didn't see anything that stood out about them. They seem to be like all the other coin websites. They do have some good deals on their specials page.

As already noted it is important that you make clear what you like to collect. If your just starting out I too recommend hitting a bank or two for rolls or even bags of coins. Some banks have $50 bags of pennies and you could find a real find in those.
I suggest you stay away from any on line coin places until you really know what you want and what they may be worth.

Where does the bank get the bags of coins as opposed to rolls?

Many times it is the coins they have counted and are preparing to ship to other branches or just storing until someone comes in who wants them.

I just recently made a purchase from Collectons. It was 10 of the 2011 Wolf coins from Canada. I was surprised at how fast I received them to be honest, nice coins too. As said above, the specials section is where it's at, and right now its free shipping with 150.00 purchase. I will be watching them for future deals.

I have purchased lots of coins and supplies from collectons and have never had a bad experience. If you watch their daily specials, they sometimes have some very good deals. Their shipping is reasonable (free if purchase $150 or more) and very fast. I frequently have items I have purchased in three days.
