And also, whats it called if its not close or wide? because wouldn't the coins have to be one or the other?

I think the 1996 was a fake coppercoins posted it was a hollowed out 96 with a copper reverse that someonbe was trying to pass off as a rotated die cent The reverse die used in 98 99 00 could have been used late 97 and early 01 you should check every cent from 91-08 AM for die varities

littleboy, can you give us a link showing the 1996 ? Like to see that. andrew,as for the rest of the memorials cents, I really don't think we should refer to WAM or CAM unless there is a variety for that year. There are already some ebay sellers doing just that trying to take advantage of newbies.

From what I remember, the 1996 WAM was reported by Billy Crawford and then was reported stolen before anyone could confirm it. I heard some speculation behind the scenes of people questioning it's existance. I have never heard of another one being found. But it is listed in the 2010 RedBook. Maybe Chuck will see this and add more.

I did a little searching on the 1996 WAM...nothing good...Bill Crawfords post was taken down, and it was on lincolncentresource but apparently taken off there too. mdh157...I haven't really found a good source for values but from experience can tell you the 99 WAM usually ranges from $80 up,if you look at andrew's chart I would assume that the rarer ones would bring more but not sure what range they are.

Quote: Probably disproved...that's good, I really don't want to check the 96's Why not? The method that created the 1998, 99, and 2000 WAM cents could in theory have happened in ANY year from 1994 to 2008. If no one ever searches those other years because no WAM have been reported it is that much longer it will take before they are discovered, if they exist. And if other years are eventually confirmed you have to start wondering "Could I have had one pass through my hands in all those times I was just searching the 98,99, and 2000's? Could I have discovered that coin myself if I had only searched the other dates as well.?"

Condor101, I guess I'm just not in the discovery mood. I tried it but became bored. I don't really even look for RPM's unless they jump out at me.I go through 5000 pennies in about 10 hours so that tells you I'm not meticulous. It is enjoyable for me this way and leaves something for the rest of the searchers to discover.I know from past experience to do what makes me happy, not what others think I should do. That doesn't mean I don't appreciate your advice and I may take it someday when the time is right.

I actually got a 1996 in change yesterday; this thread caused me to check it. I sort my cent accumulations from the reverse side, WAM in one pile and CAM in the other. Then I will check the dates for the goods. I have yet to find anything, but I still look.
