My change jug filled up this week and I got around to rolling it up today. Here's the haul. QUARTERS 10 rolls, 11 left over. DIMES 4 rols, 43 left over. NICKELS 1 roll, 4 left over. CENTS 9 rolls, 22 left over. That's 14 months worth of change. 44 nickels, seems to me somebody better think again about doing away with the CENT.

stmpcol, I also don't see the cent going anywhere soon despite the Mint's complaint that it costs more (or will cost more soon) to mint the cent than the cent is worth. If Congress eliminates the cent from the Mint's repertoire, it will completely disrupt and overhaul the nation's economy which is, in fact based on the cent. The Law of Unintended Consequences will kick in and we'll see sales and other taxes raised (not lowered) to the nearest nickel, gas prices increase or decrease (yeah, right ) in nickel increments, and cash registers burn out. I just hope Congress has the foresight to see this. The Mint can still strike cents on even cheaper planchets if they want (aluminum? pot metal? lead?), but putting a major hiccup in the way the US does business would be unacceptable.
