It wouldn't surprise me if scotch tape wasn't completely airtight.

When I first started using 2x2's, I would tape them, but I found that the coins would slide around too much in the holder and fall out of the window into the corner or the side of the 2x2. Now I staple them because it looks better, it holds tighter, and I also thorough enjoy the act of stapling a coin into a 2x2.

Well carl, they were taped completely on all sides...the ones that were not taped, dried out, the ones that were, did not.My only experience with taping was not good.

Something wrong there. Not sure how but you sealed in moisture and not really a lot of room for even a small amount. Possible you have an air leak in the plastic, did not seal all edges or something. I've been doing this for a long, long, long time and never had that problem.

Obviously your using wrong sized flips. I really don't see how a Nickel in a Nickel 2x2, a Dime in a Dime 2x2 or any coin in the correct sized 2x2 can move at all. I've seen people use the dollar sized 2x2's for all coins though so if your doing that, of course the coins will move.
