For today, let's do a hybrid question.

As we all know, several countries use the U.S. dollar as their own currency. Today's question is:

Which African country used the U.S. dollar as it's sole currency between 1854-1857?

Though I don't like giving hints, I will say this. The Liberian dollar has existed since 1847.

The prize? A cubierta of Moza or Cabro beer on the shore of Lake Atitlan if you find yourself in Guatemala after April 1st. (Of course, if anybody from CCF wants to make the journey, they'll undoubtedly get a similar prize... :) )

Well... The 'law' about drinking in Guatemala involves something about being able to see over the bar, and the bar is usually very, very short... :)

For those who don't imbibe, there will always be other tasty alternatives....

Republic of Maryland (also known as the Independent State of Maryland) which became incorporated into Liberia in 1857.
