Was flipping through Grading Coins By Photographs, and saw that the Mint made proof large cents from 1817 to 1857. I took a closer look at my 1837. It has some similarities, and a few places have touches of red. Just to be certain, I want to find out if it is, or if the coin was cleaned years ago.

The white spots are the reflection of the camera in the 2x2

If it isn't a proof (I don't think it is), then can you guys tell me the grade?

I don't see any evidence of this being a proof. (IMO)

I would grade this EF-40 (AU details) with porosity and scratches/graffiti.

Thanks for the quick response. I just wanted to be sure.

The pictures didn't pick up the red spots (they're light brown in the picture). I think it was cleaned years ago.

Don't believe it's a proof either
