Found a nice condition darksider in a 10 cent bin today here in Virginia USA curious about grade, type, and value. Color is red in hand with full mint luster:

GB it is!
In 1971 they switched to a decimal system with 1 pound = 100 (new) pence. "New" was dropped in 1982.
1/2 penny was the smallest denomination with the last issue in 1984.
