If I were planning on getting only 1 or 2 coins slabbed by PCGS would it be better to go through a local affiliated dealer or get a membership and send them myself? I doubt I would be sending more than 2 coins (depending on any specials or deals that may be offered) and the coins ( Indian cents) would be in the $500 range or so. Let me know which way you guys would go and why. Thanks!

Depends on what the dealer would charge you if anything I guess. Tough call if you don't plan on submitting more than that. Not sure how ANACS is on grading Indians, but at least you don't need a membership if you go that route.

How much did the local dealer charge you for those people who went through an affiliated dealer instead of getting a membership themselves? Just curious what some of the charges were going that way. I know they will vary some depending on the coin and the value etc...but just wanting to hear some info. Thanks.

If you are only talking about 1 or 2 coins and have no further interest in future submissions, go through a local PCGS dealer. The total cost, including round trip shipping and all fees, should not exceed $75 per coin unless you submit pieces worth over $2500.

I am a PCGS member and if you want to consider joining, the Silver Membership is $49/year and would be best for your situation. You'd still be looking at about $150 in total cost for having 2 IHC graded, but would have access to Collectors Club Specials if you decided to submit more pieces. Best of luck!

Thanks bherring, that is the info I was looking for. I appreciate your help in the matter. It sounds like a PCGS dealer is the way to go for me.
