As stated earlier in another thread, I received a box of new pennies, 50 rolls almost straight from the Mint. I kept them because I thought that this may be the last year for the doomed penny. I started going through the rolls, got the second roll done and found that almost every penny had a bad case of acne. Here are a few examples. If this is what 2 rolls show, I hope there is improvement in the last 48 rolls. Sure not going to be any BU 62,63 and certainly not any 65's. Any comments would be appreciated. Hopefully, minted coins for other clients, that is, other countries are in better shape.

My scanner has picked up more than the eye can see, as to the water marks. The plastic wrapping does not show any moisture, the box does not show any moisture either. What I am assuming is that if the coins do not have a steel core, because they are non-magnetic, why would there be rust spots on the edges or rim of the pennies? The rust spots are what are confusing me.

Isn't the last stage of production at the mint a "wash" of some kind? Maybe they didn't dry well and had the spots on them that wouldn't have shown up as moisture later on. Even condensation from a muggy day could have done it befoe the coins dried fully.

I just picked up my box of cents from the bank, and it is also an entire box of new pennies. Disappointing... I'll have to check later to see if mine have these spots as well.
