I cringe everytime that commercial comes on. They have made millions by tricking people but if you listen to what they say, you'd realize it's a fake piece of junk.....they had some lawyers review their word choices no doubt.

The colorized $2 thing is a super scam too. They are worth exactly $2 after they are done damaging them.

I wonder why the government doesn't just say that these people are not allowed to make "coins". They can make medals, or replicas or whatever they want, but they can't call them coins. That would take care of 80% of the problem with these ads.

When the State Quarters came out my Mother thought that a nice gift for myself and my kids would be the big framed map and the quarters sealed in air-tights that show up every year. She also got ads for other coins to buy and give as gifts. Now each Christmas I get a little yellow mailing bag with a dozen or half dozen coins in it. There have been a couple of Silver Eagles from the early 2000's in there.......but mostly it is the silver or gold clad coins from countries I have very heard of! I think I have talked her into not buying anymore of these coins via mail-in offers.......but this past year I got a bag with about two dozen coins!

Amazing how much overpriced crap National Collector's Mint and Coin Vault sell. As collectors, we should just tell people NEVER to buy US coins as gifts.

i feel that companies like "Littleton Coin Company" here locally do the same like thing with taking a coin like the Statehood Quarters, paint the reverse nice pretty colors, packages them with fancy marketing and gets $10 bucks a quarter.......also a <<even an obfuscated bad word is still bad!>> scam.....the only sad thing is that there will be another fool tomorrow to buy more

Who cares if these people want to buy these "coins?" The gov't allows McDonald's to sell stuff called "food."

what gets me is the newpaper ads that talk up the price of gold while trying to sell gold coins with no weight ever being mentioned, of course they are $159.45 each, or the "silver clad" Kennedy Halfs dated 1965 that are supposed to be such an investment due to the rising price of silver and the fact that they were found in a secret room in the mint and are now being offered for a measly 8.50 american each, hurry while supplies last.

my boss has a set of the hsn gold coated State Quarters, I'm not gonna break his heart by telling him how much they're worth.
