So can you fill in the gaps (and misconceptions) in my V-nickel design knowledge?

1883 - Cents reverse and No Cents reverse. Easy to see, the story's been told.

High leaf reverse; Low leaf reverse:

Any-Experts-On-V-Nickel-Reverses?

You can see the leaf above the left leg of the V is in 2 different positions. The low position almost touches the V, the high position doesn't come close.

My understanding is that both reverses can be found on the 1901 nickel, but what is the history of this reverse regarding the other years?

Since they can both be found on the 1901, it makes me think one design was pre-1901 and the other design was post 1901, but I can't tell for sure.

It seems that I see a high leaf until 1902 and a low leaf after that. Is my 1902 really a low leaf that's badly worn?

Interesting, I was unaware of this hub modification. I do believe that Barber made some sight modifications to the several of the other coins in 1900/01 though so it wouldn't be too surprising that a change was made in the nickel as well.

I checked Breen and I was right he does list modifications o the designs of the dime, quarter, and half in 1901, so it would not be surprising if he modified the nickel as well.
