update: I called the boutique number(since I'm from winnipeg) and was able to place an order for 10. However, they said that the total will be 214.xx with tax. Is anyone else paying tax?
She also said that I could try the ottawa number, but that shipping and taxes will be applied? Confused.

Vinnycoin, you should call back and have them double check your total, there should be NO tax and NO shipping charges for this coin since you're in Canada.

For those of you who could only get three coins: I also had a similar response from the Mint. I politely asked them to double check because I was under the impression I could order ten. Sure enough they said I was right and let me have ten coins.

Well, for one, our loonies and toonies aren't made of fine precious metals... Second, what if I engraved my car to say $2500 on it?

Engraving your car will not confer the status of legal tender, as this coin as this coin is authorized by the government of Canada. I still don't see where the rip off could be here.

Just ordered two by phone; no hassle. Quote: For $20 you get $20, in silver. Actually, you get less than $20 worth of silver (weight is only ~7g), but $20 worth in legal tender.

Unless this is a circulation coin, the legal tender notion matters little. I'd like to see you spend one or receive one in your change.

Certain establishments may not want to accept it but banks are legally required to honour the face value of the coin.

defone, in my earlier posts I stated $7 of silver so I realize the silver content is worth currently that much. My comment to Libertad was that the content is in silver, as opposed to paper. I should have been more precise.
So this brings us back to the NCLT dilemma where, for one reason or another, it is less that money or further that, somehow, it must be a rip off.
So sad.

I have a few times... unintentionally really, uhm, maybe be-littled(< I'm tired and that's the best word I could come up with) the RCMs NCLT. But really, to each his own... as long as collecting whatever your heart desires is your passion and your happy and so on and so forth, who am I to say anything against your hobby... hey, I also collect video game ephemera, basically worthless junk to most everyone here. Wow! I just re-read that and I really need a break! Anyway, I would like to get a few of these things. I realize that there's only about 7 bucks worth of silver in each. This fact makes me wanna pay about 10 bucks for one because I'm more a bullion person, but a person who would pay a little more for something that caught me fancy... somethin' nice... and I'm in a good and generous mood. Anyhow, I'm also seeing this kinda backwardsness... where typically the face value of NCLT is below the precious metal value. It's an interesting concept... if they did circulate I mean. As mentioned, that's probably a massive IF. Oddly, they could have made it a 25 dollar coin, or 50 dollar coin... well, maybe not oddly. Still a nice profit at 20 smackers per for da mint. But If it were a 10 dollar piece I'd be all over it like white on rice... like a fat kid on the last Smartie... like... You know, maybe I only want one now edit>>> A circulating 20 dollar silver piece would be most coool though, and maybe be a step to a non-fiat, internationally revered economy... just testing the waters so to speak... that's it, now I know I need a break

Quote: Unless this is a circulation coin, the legal tender notion matters little. I'd like to see you spend one or receive one in your change. My point is/was, the coin is not $20 worth of silver (as some may believe). More importantly, this is one rare instance where the face value of the coin well exceeds the (current) dollar value of the precious metal content. Why not spend it if you so wanted?

Hey Koin Hunter, I got that same e-mail earlier this afternoon.........actually I received it twice, once from the regular Mint e-mail address and once from the new Masters Club Rep, Emmanuel Fox.

defone....All coins made in Canada are legal tender...you can go spend a coin that you payed a $100.00 for with a face value of $20.00 ...if you can find a store that will take it...but up until now we never had a silver 20.00 coin...that we only payed 20.00 for to spend...
Hawk me too....

Folks, one thing to keep in mind is that regardless of whether you decide to spend this coin or not, it's still worth $20.00 face value.....It's no different than taking $20.00 in pennies to the bank to get a crisp new $20.00 bill...........you still have $20.00. It cost you nothing to purchase this coin, that is unless you're foolish enough to buy it from the ebay link posted earlier.
