My local B&M has a counterfeit 1798 Trade dollar, lol. It's a pretty awesome coin, and he won't sell it to me :( I don't understand why they don't use realistic dates? I mean, the Trade dollar didn't exist until 75 years after the date on the coin. Screwy.

I had a counterfeit Trade dollar 1879-S. The chinese didn;t care what they did with the coins at some points. Proving how sloppy they were making a 1879-S Trade dollar.

I wouldn't touch a Trade dollar unless it was certified. WAY too many fakes!

Right away, the weakness in the obverse devices, head details, date & fields, all threw up flags for me as not a genuine coin.
