Does everything look ok with this one? Does the toning appear natural, has it been cleaned, it's grade etc.

Thanks, echizento. I at first thought it may have been cleaned but then took another look and wasn't so sure.
I don't doubt you for a second, but could you elaborate a little? Is it the color, scratches, or what that tells you it's been cleaned?

I agree it was probably dipped and retoned. Dipped is referred to as gently cleaned
as opposed to harshly cleaned. Harshly cleaned coins have a lot of fine scratches
and my even appear buffed and very shiny. I'm sure you know harshly cleaned coins are
undesirable and the practice of ruining coins in this fashion taboo.
The tip off that this coin was dipped is the amount of wear does not match the discoloration around the devices. There should be darkness (dirt for lack of a better word) between the feathers,
inside the mouth of the beak, basically along the edges of everything.
This coin lacks natural antique patina in a nutshell.
But this coin was tastefully done and the toning is nice, many people would not mind owning it.

The key is the amount of wear. If this coin was uncirculated the color and lack of
darkening around the devices would be believable and natural

Ok, so it has been cleaned. I see what you all are talking about. I just get confused some times and want to make sure.
Sometimes I see these in top tier slabs that I would swear have been cleaned, which just adds to the confusion. The coin is described as
XF-45, but I was thinking more along the lines of VF-30. How bad does the prior cleaning hurt the value?

That is up to you to decide. Dipping silver coins is a common practice not frowned upon by everyone.

An old, light cleaning on a coin in that price range has little impact on it's value. I agree it looks closer to VF30 than XF45 too.

Definitely VF-30. The eye appeal is still very nice, so the cleaning will not have too much of an impact on the value.
